Simply Amazing

Christmas this year was just that, Simply Amazing. Everyone was way too kind and gave way too much. I really appreciate everything that my loved ones have done for me over my lifetime and they continue to amaze me each and every year right around christmas. The gifts people gave were incredible and I can begin to thank you enough for everything. You know who you are. I'm very thankful for all of it, but what I'm even more thankful for is having people who care about me enough to share their time and love with me all throughout the year.

I really can't stress how much you all mean to me.
Thank you for EVERYTHING.

The Spirit

Last night, Christmas night, my cousin Chevis' husband Dan, my cousin Jessica and I went to see Frank Millers new movie "The Spirit". I believe this was his first movie that he directed, even though this wasn't one of his stories. But the movie itself was great. Dan, Jessica and I were all in agreement that it was very cool. Not knowing anything about the spirit comic series before the movie, I found that the story wasn't hard to follow. They covered a great deal of backstory and history of the characters throughout movie, although it didn't come off like "Batman Begins" where you see the whole coming of the hero. He has already been the hero for a while at the beginning of the movie.

I would say that this is a definite MUST see for any comic fans, Frank Miller fans, and just plain action fans. The style and feeling of the movie put it right up there with "Sin City", although I did like Sin City better, but only by a little.

YES you should see it

Yesterday, Michael, my mom and I went to see "Yes Man". Jim Carrey's latest installment in his cinematic career. I really enjoyed it a great deal more than I expected. Lets face it, the plot line was nothing new by any standards. Guy meets girl, they have a great time, she gets mad about something, he wins her back, and the end. But throughout this film I found myself laughing quite a bit. Lately, Jim Carrey's movies has been somewhat lacking, at least in my opinion. But with "Yes Man" he really brought it back. The classic Jim Carrey with his silly faces and hyper reactions.

Overall I'd say go check this out. Even if your not the HUGEST Jim Carrey fan. I think most people would find this movie amusing on many different levels.

damn you INTERNETZ!!!

Today was the unofficial "FIX THE INTERNET" day. My dad and I spent all day trying to fix that damn internet. It was working for the morning then all of the sudden.... *poop*

...

nothing...

...

After many phone calls, and no luck, we decided to get a router... AFTER I went and saw "Yes Man", which was actually very good.
So I finally ended up going to best buy and picked up the new Linksys Router. After some fumbling around until midnight, we finally got it up and running.

A full day without the internet.... kinda like living in 1994..... LAME!

Stay tuned for a movie review of "Yes Man"

it's happening... AGAIN!

It's been many a year since I've seen one of these in our living room. But we finally got one put up. Not too big, not too small. I like it. The best thing about it was probably walking into the house for the first time since it was put up and smelling the fresh pine. It really bring in the christmas cheer.

weekend at Stout

This past weekend I took a trip BACK to UW Stout to visit a few friends and support them during the senior projects show. Zac, my previous roommate, was in the Graphic Design show, and Joe, Zac's roommate this semester and a close friend of mine, was in the Multimedia Design show. Both had very cool projects along with a bunch of other people in the shows that I know from Stout.

My Dunny

Here is the latest dunny I was working on for my friend JJ. He was probably the first friend that I had that also collected these.

This is a custom 8" dunny. The theme goes with many of the dunnys I've been designing lately.

As of late

As of late, I have been undergoing a series of side projects... next to my non-existent job. Some of the side projects include:
1. Selling/shipping toys to people on the internet.
2. Working on the Baggan Pub website for my old high school friend Jeremy Bisek.
3. Designing an 8" dunny for my friend JJ's birthday. (which I just finished and will post pictures of tomorrow)
4. Doing my own website.
5. Working out a design for my cousin Chelsey's boyfriend's snowmobile.
6. FINDING WORK...
and recently added 7. airbrush some exhaust pipes and flames on a welding helmet for my friend Mike's friend.

aside from all of that I do nothing but sit around, watch movies, clean the house in sperts and sleep in...

I hear that there are openings at the Aldi up the street... maybe I'll apply for a manager position there... would be better than nothing I guess... almost talked michael into it today... :D

Black Friday...

There really wasn't much that I was looking forward to this morning at 5am. Although I did take a trip to Circuit City and purchased some DVD's for pretty cheap.

Some of them I've seen... some I haven't... well, most of them I haven't... but for a movie and DVD connoisseur* like myself, I love to have a collection of DVD's... especially when they cost less than they would to rent.

Other than that, I have a comic place go to go at 10am but i think i'll have a nap before then.

Quantum of suck-ass... just kidding

A classic case of expecting too much... again.

I thought that Quantum of Solace would be as good as Casino Royal, but I was mistaken. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed it, very action packed and everything, I just didn't think it was very James Bond-ish. It was like they had this awesome idea for a movie and then decided to make it a Bond movie just by making the guys name James Bond. It was a fun movie to watch although it did have it's boring parts, and I did lose focus on the movie when it got a little confusing.

In my opinion, Daniel Craig plays a great James bond. I just think they should get more into the old style of having gadgets and bad guys like Jaws... those were the good ol' days. It was disappointing when I realized the movie was almost over and I hadn't seen a single gadget yet.

Overall, you're probably going to see this movie regardless, because it's 007... THERE'S ANOTHER THING... I can't recall them referring to him as 007 at all...

c'mon Marc Forster (Director) this is just an agent running around and shooting people... could have just as well called it XXX or Transporter... MAKE IT A DAMN BOND MOVIE!!!!

-_-   ugh...

2 movie reviews... GOOD and BAD

Last Friday I saw the new movie, Role Models. It was actually better than the previews made it out to be. I found myself laughing a lot more than I thought I would. It was up there with most of the other movies that are by the guys who did 40 year old virgin and knocked up. I actually had a great time watching it and would recommend it to a fan of Stiffler's and the guy from 40 year old virgin.

IN OTHER NEWS...

I just got back from seeing Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa. This movie went in the complete opposite direction. I thought it would be good, and it sucked, as sequels usually do. But this was just plain bad. I found myself thinking, "I can't believe DreamWorks, the people who put out Shreck and Kung Fu Panda, actually put their names on this". Sure the movie had it's points, but a fair amount of the film was spent dragging on jokes that really weren't all that funny to begin with. The Trailer actually made more sense in the order that it showed some parts. Then when I saw the movie and things were switched around, I was just disappointed. I would have to say that this isn't even a 'wait for the DVD', it's a 'wait for it on TV' title... AND I'M A FAN OF MADAGASCAR!!!

100th Post... VICTORY

It's only fitting that on my 100th Post I congratulate Barack Obama on his victory over Zombie McCain. I must also congratulate our country for taking this great step into the future and for deciding to go in a direction that will most likely change the way that I, and many other people across the world, see the United States for the better.

Celebrate!

"We should make a Porno!"

Just got back from seeing Zac and Miri Make a Porno and I've got to say, it was very funny. I went into this not knowing that it was written and directed by one of my favorites, Kevin Smith. I realized that soon into the movie when quite a few people showed up that usually make appearances in his movies. Seth Rogen and Elizabeth Banks made a great team in this movie. If you are a Kevin Smith fan, you really should go see this.

Another movie that I saw the preview for is "Fanboys". This looked like something I would REALLY like to see. It's supposed to be about a group of friends who try to break into the Skywalker Ranch... check it out.

Halloween Night

Had a pretty fun night. Went to Gretchen's aunt's house for a bit. Followed that with a trip to Chipotle where they were giving out free burritos to people who were decorated in some way with tin foil.

After that the night winded down with me uploading a heap of my videos to vimeo.com. You can see them HERE

Here's an example of what vimeo's videos look like on a page.

A Sticky Situation

I just recently started making my own stickers for no apparent reason. Other than the fact that the only way my art will be put up is if I put it up myself....

"Vandalism is FUN!"

p.s. - if anyone is interested in owning a sticker made my jared please contact me. Since I'm not working I'll sell that at a reasonable price, $32 a pop...

Just kidding, if you actually want one please let me know and I will be sure to get one out to you with a design of your choosing for no fee whatsoever.
