bike ride!

Finally, a post NOT about my AMAZINGLY Fast, Furiously HUGE, Ass Kicking New Computer!!!

woops...

Yesterday Tom and I went on a 62.75 mile bike ride. We started at my house and ended up going toward Minneapolis, but not into it. We went around it and just kept going. We went past the airport and curved back around by the Hyland Ski resort. People were using it for frisbee golf. Here's a couple of pics I took.

If you look just to the left of that dark blue building with the point, you can JUST barely see Minneapolis... That's how far on we were on the OTHER side of it, south of 494.

Here's one of their snowboard trick poles.

We also swung by the Viking's Training place.
Pretty cool seeing that boat and the word "VIKINGS" in the bushes.

New Set up

So here's a picture of my desk all ready for me to dirty it up again...
My 20" monitor is DWARFED by this baby.... but it's all set up together now, just a few more files to transfer over.

Also, I just realized this... I think it was the universe working on my side. Earth Day is today, and today is the first full day I have this computer.

AND IT'S AN ENERGY STAR!...

you're welcome EARTH!

Got it

Broke down and got it.
it's HUGE.

Notice the glare on the old monitor next to the very little glare on the new one. Those were both flashed straight on with my camera.

I'm gunna have to move my shelves... :)
it's nuts!

iMac i7

I went to the Apple store yesterday. I wanted to play a little more with the new 27" iMac with the i7 quad-core processor. That sucker is FAST. I tried to bog it down.... And I'm not talking, running Photoshop and Illustrator at the same time, bog it down, I'm talking tried hard to make it slow.

I brought in a full 720p blu-ray rip of "District 9", two 720p rips of the beginning and end title sequences to "Kung Fu Panda", a large Photoshop file, and two Illustrator files. After opening them all at the same time and playing all the videos at the same time, Max from the Mac store showed me a 32 Megapixel photo in Aperture. This picture was INSANE. You could see into the girl's pores. You could damn near see her soul with this image. Max showed me that when you zoom in on her eye, you can see the photographer taking the picture.

This thing was HUGE!

27" display with 2560 by 1440 pixels... And it's even more impressive on the inside.

2.8GHz Quad-Core Processor; Hyper-Threading for up to eight virtual cores
4GB of ram
1TB Hard Drive.
8x Double Layer SuperDrive

I realize that this is all old news to most people... but still, may have to pick one of these up... been thinking about it really hard recently.

A Couple Movies This Weekend

Kick-Ass:
The Movie I've been waiting for since I saw scenes at Wizard Con in Chicago. Kick ass definitely lived up to the name. The movie was very original, both in style and story. The fight sequences were a bit "out of this world" but still very awesome. The movie ended up being way better than I thought it would be. I really need to see it again. ALSO, Nick Cage was the shit.

Date Movie:
Funny, but not "rush out and see it funny". I'd wait for DVD. If/When you see it, stay for the gag reel. Pretty awesome. These two did make a great combination, really accenting the main characters they play in their two shows that are back to back on NBC... "The Office" and "30 Rock".

Biking is FUN

Today I went on a 50+ mile bike ride with my Uncle Tom Hanson. The last one we went on it rained, was cold, and I had to have my dad come pick me up at 48 miles. This time around, it was nice out, no rain, stopped by Chevis and Dan's house and made it back with energy to spare. I probably could have gone another 10 or so miles but Tom was on call for work starting at 4 or 4:30.

When we stopped at the Peso Pad, we were fed an amazing lunch. Most ate egg salad sandwiches, but Chevis made me a turkey sandwich. :) Mmmmmmm

Here's a few pics of Cedra while she was sleeping.... and no, that's not creepy.

Here's a pic of Cedra in the hospital the first time I met her.

And here's one of Daniel today, because we can't leave him out.

On an unrelated note, here's a pic of my easter egg...

Chewbacca is AWESOME!

Here's a pic of how the patches turned out on gretchen and my jackets.

All Good Things

Must come to an end.

Looks like my last day at Dizilu has come and gone without me even knowing it. My boss just called me and told me that he just found out that we won't be getting any more work. At least not from the place we've been doing work for. He's going to call me if he gets any more work that I will be able to do. But until that day comes, Back to the unemployment line (not really).

If anyone would like to check out the company's site (that I made), you can see it here.
